Ready, Set, Explore! through Dauphin County’s beautiful park system! This mobile pass is specifically designed with kids in mind. Go Birding at Wildwood Park’s Olewine Nature Center, visit Fort Hunter Park’s massive Sycamore Trees, or head to Detweiler Park to look for Pileated Woodpecker Holes. Earn points by exploring Dauphin County’s parks and redeem your points for some great prizes. Shh – don’t tell the kids that they are educational! Get ready and start exploring today!

Spotting Scope on the Delta Boardwalk | Wildwood Park

Want eyes like a hawk? Take a look, what do you see?

Mason Bee Boxes | Detweiler Park

These Mason Bee Boxes are located on the internal trails of Detweiler Park. They were graciously built by local Girl Scouts earning their badges and they provide a safe isolated habitat for all kinds of bees! You can view them from the trail at a safe distance from disturbing them.

American Kestrel Box | Detweiler Park

This box is a specially sized artificial habitat designed to entice the beautiful American Kestrel to make a home. This bird is the smallest Falcon in Pennsylvania and lives approximately 15-17 years! If you are lucky you will see one of them swooping around searching for field mice.

Boy Scout Bird Boxes | Fort Hunter Park

These beautifully crafted Bird Boxes were built, donated, and installed all by local Dauphin County Boy Scouts! Can you find the specific one in this picture?

Corn Crib at the Centennial Barn | For Hunter Park

Be sure to check out the historical Corn Crib at the Centennial Barn and be sure to visit the other locations in Fort Hunter, Once Checked off your scavenger hunt you will be one step closer to your prize!

The Benjamine Olewine, III Nature Center at Wildwood Park is open Tuesday – Sunday from 10:00AM – 4:00PM and is closed County Holidays.

Bridge over the Creek | Detweiler Park
This small unnamed stream is a tributary to Clarks Creek, which empties into the Susquehanna River. The bridge was made from repurposed wood from an old trailor nearby the park.

Everhart Covered Bridge
The Everhart Covered Bridge was built around 1881 to span Little Buffalo Creek in Oliver Township, Perry County. Mrs. Margaret Wister Meigs moved it to the Mansion's front lawn in 1941. By 1980, the bridge had deteriorated. It was dismantled and placed in storage where the original elements were used to recreate the current bridge.

Heckton Church
Heckton Church was built in 1885 on land donated by Henrietta P. McCallister, widow of a grandson of the builder of Fort Hunter Mansion, and served as a Methodist church until the 1990's. Damaged by fire in 1927, the interior reflects some alteration from that time. The building was moved to its current location in 2009 to avoid further flood damage.

Morning Glory
This stone circular structure was constructed in 1908 as an overflow channel for Paxton Creek. Every year this dam diverts floodwaters from the City of Harrisburg. The maximum capacity is 2,244 gallons.

Pileated Woodpecker Holes | Detweiler Park
Amidst Norway Spruce and White Pine you may hear the call of a... monkey? You won't be surprised to learn that it is not a monkey. It is the largest woodpecker species in North America, the Pileated Woodpecker. Notice its iconic rectangular shaped holes on dead or decomposing trees.
